  • About

The annual Black Santa Sit-out for charities, founded by Dean Sammy Crooks in 1976, takes place on the steps of St Anne's the week before Christmas. This year will be Dean Stephen Forde's first year as Black Santa, and he will be on the steps of the Cathedral from December 17 until Christmas Eve (excluding Sunday December 23).  Dean Forde invites you to stop by and say hello, and if you can't make it, please consider an online donation. "I know that the people of Belfast and far beyond count making a gift to Black Santa as a really special part of preparing for Christmas," says Dean Forde.  "Across 42 years, parents and children, work colleagues and passers by, people of faith and people of good-will have reached into their pockets to place their pennies and their pounds into the famous wooden barrel. Because Christmas is always about more that what we get for ourselves, it is at heart about what we give and what is given." All money raised by Black Santa Sit Out is given away again to local charities including those who support the homeless, with a small portion going to overseas charities.  We thank you for your support and wish you a happy and blessed Christmas.
